Aloha Everyone! Did you know that Surfers read too?
I'm excited to invite you to join me in reading Mistborn by Brandon Sanderson. After hearing an intriguing interview with Sanderson on the Tim Ferriss podcast, I felt inspired to dive back into the world of fantasy—a genre I loved as a kid.
I am a huge Tanis “half-elvin” fan. If you know, you know.
This book club is my way of holding myself accountable—to having fun. Yes, fun. Most of what I read is serious non-fiction, and while that’s great, sometimes my brain just needs a different kind of fuel.
I don’t own a TV, and I’m committed to keeping my evenings screen-free after six o’clock. That leaves books as my only form of entertainment, which honestly feels like a win-win. No brain rot (word of 2024 from Oxford) from doom scrolling. Just immersive storytelling, rich world-building, and a steady diet of nutrient-dense art.
Let’s get into it!
Why Mistborn?
I've always appreciated rich world-building, and I'm eager to immerse myself in a new fictional universe. I'm particularly drawn to exploring character development and emotional journeys within a magical setting. Brandon Sanderson’s work was a no brainer to kick-off this book club.
Reading Schedule
We'll aim to cover between three and five chapters each week, though this may vary depending on my workload. My goal is to read a chapter every night before bed to unwind and let my imagination roam.
Join Me! I'm approaching this read-along with an open mind and no expectations. I’m hoping to get attached to the characters and explore their emotional journeys alongside you. This is a fun way to engage in a healthy activity that’s both enjoyable and "nutrient-dense" in terms of entertainment. I've always wanted to be in a book club, and it's been challenging to find people who can commit to reading a book—so let's make this an engaging and interactive journey together!
Happy reading, and let's get started with Mistborn!
Is anyone else pumped to read this!? The prologue had me frothing for more.
