Goodbye Substack
A return to my website.
Aloha Beautiful People,
2026 has kicked off with real momentum.
Between directing a feature documentary for Jamie O’Brien and Red Bull, building my own YouTube channel, and actually trying to live a life, I’ve realized something:
I can’t be everywhere.
And more importantly, I don’t want to be.
So I’ve consolidated.
I’m no longer personally posting on Instagram, and the account will still be active with content. All future emails will come directly from my website, like they used to.
If you found me through Substack, you’ll need to sign up at darieuslegg.com to stay connected. Or, subscribe to my YouTube channel. Either way, up to you. No presh’.
This isn’t about disappearing.
It’s about focusing on what matters most to me.
What I’m Actually Building
This year, my focus is simple:
Finish the Jamie O’Brien film.
Tell my own story through YouTube.
The new series is called Creative Problem Solving.
I’ll be talking about the problems that have shaped my life; anxiety, dating relationships, identity, purpose and how I approached them creatively instead of reactively.
Not self-help.
Not How-To in seven simple steps.
Not a performance.
Not “watch me figure this out in real time.” and trauma dump all over you.
Integrated reflection.
Why I’m Leaving Most Social Media
I’ve tried a lot of strategies over the years. Some worked. Many didn’t.
What I’ve learned is this:
Most social platforms reward speed, reaction, and fragmentation.
That’s not how I think.
And it’s not how I want to create.
Social media, for me, is a brain drain.
I’m not interested in turning myself into content. I’m interested in turning my life into a story worth reading and watching long after I die. And, I’m definitely not interested in becoming algorithm-shaped.
So I’m choosing one platform that aligns with long-form storytelling and ownership of IP:
YouTube.
I love where it’s headed.
It allows depth.
It allows nuance.
It allows authorship.
And as someone raised on Scorsese, Tarantino, and Coppola, I’d rather adapt cinema to the modern world than complain that the world changed.
So I’m making the switch. Authentically.
The First Episode
The first episode drops the first week of March.
It’s called:
Why I’m Anxious.
This channel is for Millennials, especially those whose life didn’t turn out the way they thought it would.
